PERFORMANCE

SHUT UP, IT’S IBSEN!

An innovative interpretation of the scene that was never shown in A Doll’s House – this time with dolls in the roles.

From his tiny scholarship office, equipped with Commedia dell’arte dolls from the archive, a black molton and a mobile camera, stage artist Ingvild Holm has taken it upon himself to challenge bourgeois artistry. She has created a simple but brilliant puppet film based on Ibsen’s classic from 1879, and this is shown at Kube Kunstmuseum as part of Holm’s performance «NORAS TARANTELLA». It is based on the masquerade ball at the Stenborgs and the scene that is mentioned but not played in the original play. While Ibsen’s main theme is women’s unfreedom in bourgeois marriage, Holm’s Doll’s House is just as much about art’s dependence on capital or artists’ conditions and relationships with institutions.

Høstscena and Kube invite you to sparkling wine & macaroons after the event.

WHEN: Thursday 29 September, at 19.30

WHERE: Kube Art Museum, Overlyssalen
