Høstscena is a five-day performing arts festival in Ålesund. Between fjords and mountains in the beautiful Art Nouveau city, the public is invited every year in week 39, to a rich program in the fields of performing arts, visual arts, music and poetry. The autumn stage programs genre-collectively and focuses on thematic superstructures more than genre-specific ones.

With our heart in Ålesund and our eyes turned out, we work for professional and artistic growth. We has a focus on to promote theater and performing arts interest locally and regionally, and wants to be an important player for Ålesund and the region’s development. At the same time, we want to be a relevant player for the field of performing arts nationally.

The autumn stage has roots dating back to the early 1990s and has a long history as the Ålesund Theater Festival. With the change of name to Høstscena in 2011, a new chapter began for the festival, which at the same time went from being a pure theater festival to embracing a wider audience. The festival is constantly evolving and has since 2017 been led by Siri Forberg. With her as artistic director, the festival has come under the Cultural Council’s support scheme for organizers.

Høstscena is organized as a foundation (Ålesund Theater Festival), where a board hires an artistic director / general manager.
