WORKTABLE

We are very proud to present this year’s festival artist: Trine Røssevold from Valderøya. Røssevold is central to the art community in the Northwest, both in his capacity as his own artistry, his role as principal at Ytre Kunstfagskole and through a number of art policy positions. A quiet authority when it suits, but not afraid to take the blade from his mouth when needed.

Ahead of this year’s opening celebration, Røssevold has been given free rein to explore the term «Hender’s work». Here are her own words about this year’s festival theme:

The work of the hands is the work of the will. Hands do nothing without the will to act. Hender’s work can be both a result, i.e. something that is made, and it can be an action. The concept has something grand about it. You don’t use it about crushes.

In the work for Høstscena I have chosen to work with the two opposing actions; to build up and to tear down. I think a lot about the will to action and have called the work «Prophecy». I also think that it should be perceived as magnificent. And that one should feel like putting his finger on it.

During the opening, she collaborates with drama students from Ålesund upper secondary school.

WHEN: Wednesday 28 September at 18.00 (doors open at 17.30)
