In Nini Roll Anker’s novel Den som heng i en tråd Karna sits bent over the sewing machine and dreams of a good life, of love and a different future. For millions of women, the story of Karna is a reality today. The novel, which was written based on the clothing industry in Romsdal, is now moved to our time.

The one who hangs in a thread is considered one of the most important social novels of the interwar period and addresses issues such as wages, working conditions, abortion and social control over unmarried women. The Romsdal region was at that time «Norway’s dressing room» with many clothing factories.

Toril Solvang directs in a modern interpretation of The one who hangs in a thread. Sandra Kolstad is a composer and musician and plays in the performance herself. Her distinctive voice in electronic pop music has attracted attention on both the Norwegian and international music scene. The performance is produced by Teatret Vårt.
