FESTIVAL ARTIST Inger Bakke

This year’s festival artist is the stage artist Inger Bakke from Ålesund.

She is a trained actress from Bergen Theater School and Arts Ed London in addition to studies in singing and voice use, experimental theater, yoga and meditation. She has worked as an actress and musician since 2001 with Sunnmøre as her base.

THEME
Bakke is vividly concerned with the big questions in life and she addresses these through her performances and concerts. Surrealism, humor, high intensity and play are her hallmarks. Coherence and wholeness, life and learning, nature and man are bearing themes. She drills herself into the core of all questions and is often bloody violent in the face of accepted truths.

COOPERATION
Inger has largely worked interdisciplinary and, with few exceptions, has initiated the vast majority of her projects. She is looking for partners who are exploratory and open, honest, clear and risk-averse. Marit Kaldhol, Solveig Fagermo, Stian Omenås, Karstein Solli to name a few.

SHAPE
She has a roasted, physical stage language and is skin-deep in meeting the audience. She has developed most of her productions in direct connection to the place where it will be performed and she adapts the playing style from project to project.

AUTUMN SCENE 2018
As a festival artist for Høstscena 2018, Bakke will address the theme of: the human being in meeting himself and the world we live in. As a festival artist, she will present two premieres. In the opening performance «The taste of the lake? Bakke will explore modern man’s need for rituals and contact with nature. In this project she has invited composer Magnar Åm, author Marit Kaldhol, visual artist Liv Sønderland, as well as Ålesund chamber choir and students from Fagerlia vg. The work will be performed in Byparken during the opening of Høstscena 2018. The audience can also meet her in the concert «Night Watch» built on the collection of poems of the same name by Synne Lea and Stian Hole. Here she explores the state between dream and reality together with the improvisational musicians Stian Omenås and Are Kolbeinsen.

Inger also plays the performance «Bårghild – every day is a party» – one of the biggest successes that has toured The cultural schoolbag in Møre og Romsdal during the big family day. A performance with speed, madness and an unexpected ending.
